Yes, but I’d start it in my part-time and not quit my day job until the income from the business exceeded (on a regular basis) my job earnings
Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you’ll inevitably have as well as many you haven’t anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

The only way it would be profitable is if you specialize in a couple of areas and become the expert. There are too many people that “know how to build web sites” but know nothing about the marketing aspects or the optimization. The market is saturated with Jr college web designers that charge little to nothing to put up a pretty reasonably priced template based sites. It is hard to compete without a real benefit and the client base that sees the advantage.These are areas that show dramatic cost benefits that business customers can relate to. You need to have some track record or a lot of strong talent behind you if you do this out of the box.
